Sad news for hardcore BB fans, as Channel 4 confirm that the live feed, usually broadcast through digital platform E4 and the interactive ‘red button’ service, has been axed for the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Although no official statement has been made, the news - first reported by The Sun - is believed to have come as a result of concerns by Channel 4 bosses surrounding the show’s editorial policy, which came under fire during the infamous racism row in the last series of Celebrity Big Brother, back in 2007.
A source told The Sun: “Fans will be royally short-changed. What used to be a reality show has turned into a farce. They’ve scrapped the 24-hour feed for many reasons but the main one is to get more control.”
“It’s now just an entertainment show where punters can see celebrities doing silly tasks. If the show isn’t 24 hours then it’s lost any cache it once had. Now it’s more like a watered-down version of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ than anything else.”
